Penguin Design Awards - Childrens Prize

The chosen book this year was Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, which is some ways is difficult to design for a book thats imagery is so well known and ingrained in people's conciousness - its hard to do something 'new' with it.

I created 2 different covers for this book front cover - one for an annotated adults version and one for the childrens version. for the adults version I started experimenting in the dark room with photograms trying to capture an 'animated' feel. In both the books covers I wanted to convey the imagery of Alice being lost in a strange and sometimes, frightening world.
